We’re now looking for a Software Developer to join the team working at the core of our technology – developing and evolving the media player that powers our business brands: Grassfish, Dise, and Visual Art.

The role

As part of the IXM Grid team, you’ll develop and evolve the Media Player at the heart of our platform.

Our Media Player is a hardware-agnostic, JavaScript- and TypeScript-based application running across a wide range of devices and operating environments. It handles media playback, remote control and monitoring of digital signage installations – reliably, continuously and at scale.

The role is focused on building and adapting applications that need to work reliably across different hardware platforms. You’ll work primarily with TypeScript, JavaScript and Node.js, while solving challenges related to device compatibility, networking, performance, stability and long-term operation.

This is a role for someone who enjoys the intersection between software and the real world – taking an application and making sure it works consistently on many different devices and platforms.

This is not a traditional low-level embedded role focused on firmware, microcontrollers or hardware development. Instead, it is about developing robust, hardware-agnostic applications that run on and communicate with a variety of devices.

You’ll be part of a collaborative, cross-functional development team where we solve problems together, share knowledge and continuously improve how we build our platform.

What you’ll work with

Depending on your experience and interests, you’ll contribute to areas such as:

• Developing and improving our TypeScript- and JavaScript-based Media Player

• Making applications work reliably across different devices and operating systems

• Adapting, optimizing and troubleshooting software for different hardware environments

• Improving performance, stability and observability in continuously running applications

• Testing software using tools such as Vitest, Playwright and Postman

• Investigating complex issues across the application, device and network layers

• Exploring new technologies and better ways of solving technical challenges

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for a developer with solid professional experience who can contribute independently while collaborating closely with others. You should be comfortable working with an existing product, understanding complex technical problems and taking ownership of solutions from investigation to implementation.

We think you’ll thrive in this role if you have:

• Several years of professional experience in software development

• Strong experience with JavaScript and TypeScript

• Experience developing applications with Node.js

• Experience making software work across different devices, operating systems or hardware platforms

• Testing and development tools such as Playwright, Postman or Vitest

• Experience troubleshooting issues that involve software, hardware and networking

• A good understanding of application architecture, debugging and testing

• Experience with a modern frontend framework; we use Svelte

• Professional working proficiency in English

The most important aspects are your experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and your ability to make applications work reliably across different devices and environments.

Experience from digital signage is not required. What matters more is your ability and curiosity to understand the technology behind it.

Experience that could be valuable

• Device platforms such as Samsung Tizen, LG webOS, Android, BrightSign or Raspberry Pi

• Windows, Linux, x86 or ARM environments

• Android or Kotlin development

• IoT, sensors or other hardware-adjacent software development

• Monitoring, diagnostics and performance optimization

• AI-assisted development tools for coding, debugging or productivit

Our core stack includes TypeScript, JavaScript and Svelte, with Vite for building, Vitest for unit testing and Playwright for end-to-end testing.
